RAGE THE WAGE

The cost of living crisis is making living on minimum wage near impossible. We need to raise awareness and raise the wage together !

Across the year 2020, there was a shocking 73.3 million people aged 16 and above being paid minimum wage that is the population of the United Kingdom (67,059,474 in 2020) and more!!

This campaign’s aim is to increase the minimum national wage for all ages to a liveable amount. We will be having protests selling merchandise and using our social media presence to make the site of this campaign and gain an audience of people who too, think that the minimum wage needs to raise.

With the cost of products going up people are having to take on more hours at work just to make ends meet. Should life really just be about work and getting by? No! that’s why we need to protest now. The minimum wage should be increased to a comfortable living amount that allows people to buy the things the need without taking on more shifts so they can have the freedom to of activities outside of work and be able to live a fulfilling life.

I’m not just talking about the older generation, even though I know they have the immense struggle of paying bills and also looking after them selves and their children, the younger generation is finding it hard too with the minimum wage starting with 16 year olds it is unfair that things cost more for them as well such as bus fares and train tickets start adult pricing at 16 years old.

This graph shows the hourly rate for different age categories from 2019-2020, how people can look at this and think it’s fair is beyond me. For an hour of work as an apprentice you can just about get a block of red Lester cheese from Tesco but don’t worry you can treat yourself with that 91p you’ve got left. Its the same with 25+, £8.21 wont even get you an open return train ticket from Bridlington to Hull which is an hour long train ride.

Isn’t it funny how people who earn much more than us think this is okay?

This is why we need to take action. This campaign we hope tone able to raise the minimum hourly rate for all age groups as it is everyone who is suffering.
